Designing an informational website about the history of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
Purpose:
Create an informational website devoted to relating any subtopic of computer technology history of computer technology,
Focused on represent content in an accurate and engaging way, not on website building from scratch .
Incorporate UI principles in content strategy, navigational features, and webpage layouts.
Generate substantial article-length content (*it was acknowledged that the amount of content would be longer than normally recommended for typical websites).
Approach:
Team of 4 assembled based on interest in human-computer interaction (HCI)
Using a website builder and having a shared username and password allowed for easy collaboration and jump-start on organizing an aesthetically pleasing website.
Generating content and organizing in an intuitive and engaging way to educate readers.
Project duration: 4 weeks
Role & key contributions:
Project manager and content strategist
Contributed to style sheet/overall look and feel of the design. Used a modern and fresh color palette, consistent typeface and formatting
Authored webpage content (Home, About, History of HCI Research with the latter's content longer than I would typically recommend but appropriate to the project scope)
Home: added images in a tile layout broken up by text to add shorter historical facts as well as hyperlinks to draw the reader into subpages for longer content.
